Sale: Your Private Internet History

S.J. Res 34

Congress has voted to repeal Obama-era consumer privacy regulations--yikes. Last month, Senate passed S.J. Res 34, now your private Internet history is for sale!

Internet privacy activist, Adam McElhaney set up this gofundme campaign to give the Senators that voted for it a taste of how that actually feels. He plans on purchasing the Internet histories of all legislators, congressmen, executives, and their families and make them easily searchable at searchinternethistory.com. This is the same material that others could purchase about YOU--what's the last WebMD symptoms you searched? Have you viewed anything pornographic? Bought anything sorta weird? Anything they have viewed on the Internet will now be available for everyone to comb through, just like someone could do with the internet history that an entity purchased of yours. Your private data will be bought and sold to marketing companies, law enforcement.

In the meantime, you may want to learn how to use a VPN to protect your internet privacy.
